This popular course is suitable for complete beginners, whether for personal or professional interest. Learn floral design fundamentals such as how to select and condition flowers, how to use floral design supplies and different types of designs. In this hands-on course, each week you'll create one of the following designs in class using the principles and elements of design and colour: water viewing, hand-tied bouquet, crescent and triangular. Materials lists will be e-mailed prior to the course start date. This course is the pre-requisite to all other courses in our Floral Design program.

Join our resident Floral Design Program Coordinator, Margaret Taylor for a one-off class to practice your floral design skills or glean new ones. Take advantage of the season and the bounty of spring flowers to create a simple, yet intentional piece perfect for any table. No experience necessary. This class does not contribute to the certificate.

Explore the world of modern design through this structured series of teachings covering Modern Line, Modern Line Mass, Modern Mass and Layer Design. Are you a graduate, or soon to be, of the Floral Design Certificate? Use what you've learned so far and expand your skills through our Advanced Certificate course. This course will build on your knowledge and skills related to the modern designs innovated by the Italian school. New designs, that break all the rules of traditional design and extend our scope as designers, are still being created. Learn new approaches to modern mass and horizontal designs, and explore freestyle design and Nuevo Stile, the newest in Italian design. Prerequisites: Floral Design Certificate or the five mandatory Floral Design courses in preparation of the certificate. GCO judges also accepted.

In this follow-up to Introduction to Fundamentals I, gain in-depth knowledge of plant material and design techniques. Create more complex designs in class such as a columnar line design, line mass design and asymmetrical triangular mass design, and get key tips on what floral judges are looking for in an award-wining design. Materials list will be e-mailed prior to the course start date. Prerequisite: Floral Design Fundamentals I.

Create a beautiful flower arrangement in a basket using summer's bounty of flowers and foliage. Your basket will make a beautiful centrepiece for formal dining or the picnic table, a thoughtful gift for a sick friend, or a hostess gift. Materials are included, but students are encouraged to bring additional items from their gardens. No floral arrangement experience required. This class does not contribute to the Floral Design Certificate.

Create a bouquet fit for the vase as well as the dinner plate with Jessica Gale of Sweet Gale Gardens. All flowers and herbs will be provided and will be organically-grown at Jessica's Toronto farm. This class does not contribute to the Floral Design Certificate.

Learn how to design on different scales-from tiny, magical miniature pieces to large impressive floral ones. Proportion and scale, for designing all sizes, will be discussed in detail. Create designs using both fresh and dried material and contrast traditional with modern design. This course is vital to achieve a full understanding of the scope of floral design.
