Make your own relief prints. Bring a design, drawing or photo for inspiration, carve it into a linoleum or softoleum block, ink up your block with ink and hand print your image. Bring your ideas, your creative spirit and an apron, and leave with your original prints! Beginners welcome. Materials supplied at an additional cost of $15.

This workshop will cover materials and techniques used in coloured pencil rendering for botanical art. Students will learn how to produce realistic botanical subjects with the help of detailed step-by-step instruc¬tional handouts, demonstrations and individual attention. Easy to use and convenient to store and replace, coloured pencils can be used alone or combined with graphite. Techniques such as burnishing and blending, along with accurate colour matching, tonal rendering and compositional layout, will help you to master this rewarding medium.

One way to study animals is to draw them. Join experienced nature artist and instructor Alan Li (alanlidrawings.com) for an introduction to mammal and bird skull sketching. Using graphite pencil and ink, Alan will demonstrate methods for capturing the form of a skull through line work and shading techniques. Constructive feedback will help participants elevate their abilities and draw with confidence. All skill levels are welcome.

This workshop will explore pattern making with a variety of edible and seasonal local ingredients. As a group, we will collaboratively and individually arrange ingredientsarrange ingredients on a flat canvas into colourful, informative and artistic creations. Photographer and food lover, Gabriel Li, will guide participants with the food preparation, pattern arrangement, and the technical photography knowledge to capture their edible patterns. Bring your camera and ideas! Ingredients will be provided.
