Please join us for a delightful afternoon of butterfly drawing. Working from carefully preserved specimens, you’ll learn how to capture the details of these fascinating insects with the help of artist Alan Li. This workshop will be of particular interest to those who keep nature journals. All skill levels welcome.

Before chemical dyeing, people used garden and wild plants to dye fabric. Participants will create a sample book showing how seasonal plants can produce a wide range of colours on wool, silk and alpaca fibre.

Using graphite pencil, artist Alan Li will demonstrate how to capture the shapes and textures of natural objects. Alan will also teach the line and shading techniques required to make your drawings more dimensional and expressive. Supportive feedback will be provided. All skill levels welcome.

In this two-day introduction to the craft of creating sugar paste flowers, you will learn how to artfully produce beautiful (and edible!) flowers including roses, cymbidium orchids and small blossoms, for your cakes.
